Xinhuanet Chongqing Channel, March 18 (Reporter Li Xiangbo) On the evening of the 16th, it was just dark and the city street lights were on. Lin Bo, director of the Chongqing Urban Lighting Yuzhong Management Office, took the inspection team and drove the aerial work vehicle on the road.

Different from usual, in the team on that day, there were several more citizens who came to participate in the "3.19" city management service theme day and street lamp maintenance experience activities.

Every night, the operation team of Yuzhong Management Office has to inspect the main and secondary roads and cross-river bridges in Yuzhong area. "The lighting facilities in the whole area have to be inspected in two days, with an average of more than 10,000 lights per day," Lin Bo said. In addition, they have to repair the lighting fixtures found to be faulty during the inspection.

According to statistics from Chongqing Lighting Bureau, there are currently more than 100 front-line street lamp workers in Chongqing, who are responsible for the night lighting of some street lamps in the main urban area and 12 cross-river bridges on the two rivers, and the maintenance of more than 150000 lamps.

"On the one hand, it is to save energy. Large-scale lighting during the day will consume a lot of electricity. On the other hand, it will minimize the impact on urban traffic." Lin Bo explained why street lamp maintenance is only carried out at night.

In order to ensure that the inspection and repair tasks can be completed within the specified time, lighting maintenance workers often need to work late into the night. "Usually we start work as soon as it gets dark, and it will not end until 12 o'clock in the night at the earliest. It is also common to work until three or four o'clock," Lin Bo said calmly.
